Ceftibuten is an oral, third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat specific bacterial infections, primarily targeting upper and lower respiratory tracts and urinary tract infections. It is marketed under the brand name Cedax. While it remains in use globally, ceftibuten has been discontinued in the United States market, though the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) noted this was due to commercial decisions rather than safety or efficacy concerns.
