Montelukast (commonly known by the brand name Singulair) is a prescription oral medication used as a daily maintenance treatment to prevent asthma attacks, manage seasonal and year-round allergies, and prevent exercise-induced bronchoconstriction. It is not a rescue medication and cannot stop an active asthma attack.
