Ethambutol

Ethambutol (frequently sold under the brand name Myambutol) is a prescription antibiotic primarily used alongside other medications to treat active pulmonary tuberculosis (TB). It belongs to a class of medications called antitubercular agents. Because tuberculosis bacteria can quickly become resistant to a single drug, ethambutol is never prescribed alone. It is typically bundled into a standard multi-drug regimen known as "RIPE" (Rifampin, Isoniazid, Pyrazinamide, and Ethambutol).
